Story

Dev is filmmaker Govind Nihalani's second attempt at mainstream cinema after his Ajay Devgan - Tabu starrer Thakshak that did not fair well at the theatres. The film has Amitabh Bachchan playing the Joint Commissioner of Police Dev Pratap Singh, a righteous and dutibound officer whose high ideals are not always functional in the corrupt system. On the other hand is Dev's friend Special Commissioner Tejinder Khosla (Om Puri) who is a pragmatic person and believes in maintaining a balance between Dev's commitment towards law and the political interests of the state's Chief Minister Bhandarker (Amrish Puri).
