Hasmukh Patel (Paresh Rawal) lives in a Gujarati-only residential society. He is a bit regressive and prefers to surround himself with like-minded Gujaratis. His elder daughter (Jinal Belani) is getting married to a Gujarati and he expects his youngest daughter Pooja (Payal Ghosh) to do the same. Trouble begins for him when the vacant house opposite to his is bought by a Punjabi, Guggi Tandon (Rishi Kapoor). Guggi is exactly opposite of Hasmukh – he is loud, consumes alcohol and non-vegetarian and also uses colourful language. Guggi's son Monty (Vir Das) meanwhile falls for Pooja who also gets attracted to him.
