Biography
Model turned actress, Preeti Jhangiani was born on 18th August 1980. When she first made her entry into the world of greasepaint, as the wispy chhui mui girl in a music video, everyone whispered, "Who's that girl?" And when she made it to the list of three newcomers to be introduced in the eternal romantic Yash Chopra's star bonanza, Mohobbatein, cine-goers knew that Preeti Jhangiani had arrived. Out of the three girls who debuted in the film, Preeti, as critics and audiences professed, gained most out of the mileage. Her goody-two-shoes image, her delicate profile, Preeti seemed to fit hand-in-glove for the role of most conventional Hindi films. Soon, producers started queuing outside her house with scripts and signing amounts.
And predictably, within a couple of months, Preeti had signed over twelve films. Much would have been expected to happen in this stunner's life. And much indeed did happen. Like a whip of rotten luck, she fell ill, the after effects of which turned the course of her life. The strong antibiotics she consumed left rather harsh effects of her angelic visage. One of the reasons being weight fluctuations. And almost overnight, the films disappeared. Such is the fickleness of fame and fortune.
But Preeti didn't lose heart. She stayed put and did the best she could to sustain the career that had fallen into the eye of a hurricane. Meanwhile, Feroz Nadiadwala's Awara Paagal Deewana happened. The colossal hit came with the promise of sunshine, but proved to be a fluke.
From film sources are to be believed, Preeti is all set to tie the nuptial knot with (Feroz Nadiadwala's younger brother) Mustaq. Preeti Jhangiani's hobbies are watching romantic movies, web browsing and listening music.
She made her cinematic debut in the year 1999 when she appeared in three films- one each in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu. Her first film was Dinesh Babu?s Malayalam film ?Mazhavillu? opposite Kunchako Boban. Preeti was next seen in Selva Bharathy?s Tamil film ?Hello? opposite Prashanth. Preeti starred alongside Pawan Kalyan, Aditi Govitrikar, Achyuth, Chandra Mohan and Mallikarjuna Rao in P.A. Arun Prasad?s 1999 release Telugu film ?Thammudu?.
However Preeti?s big break in Bollywood was through Yash Raj Films? romantic musical drama film ?Mohabbatein?. Directed by the award winning director Aditya cHopra, ?Mohabbatein? starred eminent actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The film revolved around the love stories of three young couples played by Preeti Jhangiani- Jimmy Shergill, Kim Sharma- Jugal Hansraj and Shamita Shetty- Uday Chopra. ?Mohabbatein? became a huge box office success and earned many awards at Filmfare, IIFA, Star Screen, Zee Cine Awards etc.
She was next seen in a guest appearance in Arjun Sablok?s ?Na Tum Jaano Na Hum? starring Hrithik Roshan, Saif Ali Khan and Esha Deol in lead roles. Preeti Jhangiani has starred alongside many established actors like Akshay Kumar in ?Awara Paagal Deewana?, Govinda in ?Waah! Tera Kya Kehna? and ?Ssukh?, Akshaye Khanna in ?LOC Kargil?, Sunil Shetty in ?Aan: Men At Work?, Dino Morea in ?Chehraa? and Aftab Shivdasani in ?Jaane Hoga Kya?.
Preeti also starred in the Pakistani Urdu film ?Godfather - The legend continues? alongside Vinod Khanna, Arbaaz Khan, Meera, Maria Khan, Ajab Gul, Amrita Arora and Kim Sharma. Directed by Hriday Shetty, ?Godfather - The legend continues? was a gangster film hugely inspired from Francis Ford Coppola's ?Godfather?. Preeti Jhangiani also appeared in the Punjabi film ?Sajna Ve Sajna? and performed a sizzling item number in Telugu film ?Yamadonga? starring Jr. NTR and Mohan Babu.
Preeti will soon be seen in films like ?As the river flows?and a Telugu film titled ?Tejam?. Moreover Preeti and her husband Parvin Dabbas have recently started a production company under the banner Very Fishy Films. Their first film will be directed by Parvin Dabas himself and is supposedly titled ?Sahi Dhande Galat Bande?. An action film with an interesting political twist may be screened at the Toronto Film Festival.
