The Aishwarya asks Sanjay Bhansali for a show of Saawariya

Some bonds, even in brittle Bollywood go beyond immediate self-interest. Though Aishwarya Rai hasn?t been any part of Sanjay Leela Bhansali?s last two films, the bond that they forged during the making of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas remains indelible.

Look who?s Calling

A week after the release of Sanjay?s Saawariya, Aishwarya called up Sanjay, one of her favourite directors and a very close friend, requesting for a screening of the opus.

Says Sanjay, ?The Bachchans couldn?t attend the premiere because of Amitji?s mother?s condition. When Aishwarya called saying the family wanted to see the film I was more than happy to comply. To me the opinion of people who matter to me is very important.?

Sanjay?s bond with the Bachchans is more than skin deep. Not only has he done films with both the patriarch and the bahu of the family, he?s also a great fan of Jaya. As for the son, not many people know that Sanjay came close to working with Abhishek after HDDCS when the filmmaker wanted to direct a father-son story with him in the lead.

The Saawariya screening is expected be held later this week when Jaya returns from attending Parliament in Delhi.

Deaf ear

While happy to share his latest creation with the Bachchans, Sanjay remains blissfully unfazed by all the negativity surrounding his film.

I?m taking my long-due time off. I?m reading, thinking, relaxing, and letting my mind float. It?ll be a while before I decide on which film to make next,? says Sanjay from his holiday spot.
