Biography
Born to parents Surendra and Sunanda Shetty on February 2, 1979, Shamita Shetty soon grew up to become a hot and sexy Indian actress. She is the younger sister of famous Indian actress and Celebrity Big Brother winner Shilpa Shetty. She was born in a traditional close-knit family that hails from the Bunt community of Mangalore. Her parents are manufacturers of tamper-proof caps for the pharmaceutical industry and her native language is Tulu.
She attended St Anthony's Girls High School in Chembur, Mumbai and later graduated from Sydenham College. It has also been reposted that she was dropped from 11th standard in Sydenham College to pursue a diploma course in fashion designing.
Shamita has always seen her sister?s career blooming in Indian Cinema and she has always admired her and wanted to follow her footsteps. She has the beauty and talent to establish herself in the film industry and she got ample of support from her family. She decided to make a mark and stepped out and luckily was approached for a big budget Bollywood film Mohabbatein.
Shamita made her debut Bollywood drole in Mohabbatein,directed by Aditya Chopra and produced by one of the greatest Indian producers, Yash Chopra. She was starred opposite to Uday Chora whom she dated afterwards for brief period. The film was based on the love stories of six youths who find their guide in the form of Shah Rukh Khan. The film also starred Amitabh Bachchan, who played a sort of non-believer of love. This movie hit the box office and Shamita was successful enough to prove her mettle as a new comer.
Mohabbatein opened the door for this dashing beauty queen and she got lot of new movie offers. Soon she was seen doing item numbers Sharara Sharara in Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2001), Chori Pe Chori in Saathiya (2002). She presented herself perfectly while doing item numbers and soon she earned the name of an item girl.
Her solo hit came with Zeher (2005), and that was a great success for her as an actress. She once appeared with her sister Shilpa in Fareb in that same year. After that she made many lead and supporting roles and give special appearance in some films like in Heyy Babyy (2007).
